Overview
The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda), is an Organisation contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease. TASO is implementing various projects funded by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to support the Government of Uganda accelerate epidemic control and the attainment of the UNAIDS 95 95 95 goals and, the department of pharmacology & therapeutics, Makerere University to assess the safety and efficacy of Dolutegravir and EFV400 for pregnant and breast-feeding women through the PREGART Clinical Trial Project. TASO requires the services of dedicated, competent, innovative and result-oriented individuals for employment on a contract basis for the posts below;
Job Title : REF: TS/HR/PMGT/2: 2 Study Midwife - PREGART Clinical Trial Project
Classification : One-year renewable basing on performance
Reporting to: Study Coordinator
Salary: Commensurate with training and experience
Duty Station : TASO Entebbe Directly
Supervises: None

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Study Midwife will work with the Study Coordinator and Health Facility staff to effectively organize and oversee the recruitment of the study participants.
Summary Of The Implementation Research

Key Outputs
• Eligible study participants identified and enrolled
• Study and Health Facility Case Report Forms (CRF) accurately completed
• Study activities conducted in line with the research ethics and SOPs
• Technical guidance to peer leaders provided
• Study progress reports prepared and submitted in time

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Identify eligible study participants
• Counsel and explain study procedures to the study participants Obtain informed consent from eligible patients as per protocol, in accordance with GCP and HSP principles
• Work with health facility staff to enroll eligible patients into the study, to meet the study site specific accrual targets.
• Complete Case Report Forms (CRF) correctly and accurately in compliance with trial procedures / SOPS and GCP standards.
• Support health facilities to complete Case Report Forms (CRF) correctly and accurately in compliance with trial procedures / SOPS and GCP standards.
• Ensure study participant safety and privacy, data integrity and confidentiality.
• Ensure that all CRFs are scanned and uploaded onto the server in accordance with the Study protocol and the data management standard operating procedures.
• Ensure that study participants' vitals, clinical parameters and samples from study participants are collected.
• Ensure that all laboratory results are explained to the study participants and are filed.
• Ensure that all study participants with complications are referred to regional referral or national referral hospitals. in referral hospitals.
• Conduct follow ups for study participants.
• Prepare study progress reports and submit to the Study Coordinator and Health Facility Team.

Person Specifications: Study Midwife
Minimum Academic Qualifications: Diploma in Midwifery and registered with the Uganda National Nurses and Midwives Council.
Additional Training
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and or human subject protection (HSP) training is an added advantage.

Special Knowledge
Medical knowledge and skills; Proper management of patients according to nursing techniques and current treatment guidelines through history taking, laboratory investigations and treatment;
Knowledge of family planning methods and other reproductive health services in Uganda.

Required Experience and Exposure:
2 years' experience in Clinical Nursing Services in an HIV/AIDS setting. Prior research experience will be a strong added advantage.
