UBOS is an agency of Government responsible for maintenance, coordination, supervision and monitoring of the National Statistical System to ensure the collection, analysis and dissemination of standardized statistical information. The Bureau is mandated as the principal official statistics producing agency in the country.
The Bureau intends to conduct the Aquaculture Census 2025. It is therefore seeking to recruit highly competent, motivated, results oriented, dynamic, team players of good character and high integrity to carry out the exercise.
JOB REFERENCE: UBOS/ENC/AAC/25
REPORTS TO: District Fisheries Officer (DFO)
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Temporary (One Month)
Job Summary:
To conduct enumeration of all aqua culture in the assigned Enumeration areas.
Key Result Areas:
1. Participate in all trainings sessions and meet the criteria for assessment
2. Locate fish farms in the assigned districts
3. Identify and interview selected respondents and record the responses on the application
4. Identify errors and inconsistencies in the responses/data during the interview
5. Ensure completeness of the data collected
6. Ensure confidentiality of data collected
7. Responsible for the safety of all census materials allocated to him/her
8. Ensure prompt submission of all returns
9. Prepare and submit a daily report to the Supervisor
10. Prepare and submit a full report at the end of the exercise
11. Assist the DFO in any other census related activity
Minimum Qualifications:
• A minimum of Ordinary Level Certificate - Uganda Certificate of Education or its equivalent
• Attainment of a credit score in Mathematics and English at O-level
• Training in fisheries or aquaculture is an added advantage
Skills and other attributes:
• Must have a valid National Identity Card
• Must have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and be registered for National Social Security Fund (NSSF)
• Must be physically fit and willing to work long hours
• Must be able to write legibly and pay attention to detail
• Must be a resident of the district or sub-county where the exercise is to be conducted
• Should possess interviewing skills
• Should be able to relate and communicate easily with respondents
• Should possess some knowledge and understanding of the conduct of enumeration and surveys
• Should possess swimming skills
• Must have good communication skills
• Must possess a smartphone
• Must have a Phone Number that is registered on Mobile Money in their Own Name
• Must be available exclusively for the Aquaculture activity from 1st May 2025 to 30th May 2025.
