JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The role is responsible for cost effective, safe and appropriate use of BPIL fleet, in the delivery of its products to branches and customers. The position holder will work under the rules, regulations and guidelines of BPIL while ensuring the accomplishment of goals and targets set by Management.

Responsibilities Effective management of Company vehicles and safe and timely delivery of products
• Scheduling and allocation of vehicles for activities to ensure timely delivery of goods
• Compliance to systems currently in place for the tracking of goods stored and moved
• Ensuring that proper care is taken to deliver the goods in excellent condition
• Monitoring fuel consumption to mileage covered to ensure efficiency
• Monitoring mileage covered to the routes travelled
• Compile the annual budget and review performance monthly
• Proper maintenance and timely servicing of vehicles
• Reporting vehicle problems and faults to the workshop in time
• Proper analysis of fuel usage reports and making related recommendations
• Put in place fuel control processes and ensure their proper implementation
• Monitoring vehicle repair costs on an individual basis
• Vehicle equipment, safety & emergency repair kits well maintained
• Immediate response to travel related problems/incidents
• Ensuring that vehicles and drivers are fully compliant with road traffic regulations
• Focusing on road safety
• Update SOPs and ensure compliance
• Effective supervision of drivers and handling any driver related issues including performance management
• Driver recruitment, assessment and training
• Managing the relationship with 3rd party transporters, ensuring the following
• That the relevant contracts are in place, and that contract conditions are met
• That transporters are meeting the same safety standards as BPIL vehicles and drivers in terms of road safety and vehicle roadworthiness
• That transporters respect BPIL procedures and regulations regarding the collection and movement of goods.
• Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you by management from time to time

• Fuel and mileage effectively monitored

Person Specification
Education, Training, Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering
• Relevant training for transport, logistics or related training
• Clean driving record and valid driving credentials
• Knowledge of vehicle insurance regulations
• Minimum of 3-5years experience in similar role in a busy commercial environment
• Strong leadership skills
• High level of integrity
• Knowledge of vehicle insurance regulations
• Demonstrated fleet management experience
• Excellent communication and planning skills Data analysis skills
• Able to resolve complex problems and multi task
• Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills
• Strong IT skills with knowledge of the full range of programs and software especially excel
• Demonstrable experience of a range of logistics activities, route scheduling, and general transportation management
• Ability to perform well in a deadline driven/results orientated atmosphere
• Able to multi-task and efficiently manage competing priorities
• High level of integrity and honesty
• Attitude/ Motivation
• Value adding (willingness to go an extra mile for BPIL, staff & customers).
