Job description
DMI is looking to recruit a Production Technician to join the expanding Uganda team. The Production Technician will be responsible for the planning, organisation and execution of all production activities relating to DMI Uganda projects, working closely with the Senior Campaign Manager at DMI Uganda and HQ-based technical teams.
More specifically, the Production Technician role will include the following responsibilities:
1. Overseeing the recording, editing and post-production of high-quality audio files for broadcast. This may involve direct recording, editing and post-production using in-house equipment or working with externally contracted studios.
2. Casting, coordination, rehearsal, and direction of voice actors.
3. Working closely with DMI's HQ-based technical staff to help them understand the local context and ensure that all campaign materials accurately represent local culture.
4. Organisation and knowledge management of production records and files, including draft and final scripts and audio files, production log.
5. Management and maintenance of production equipment.
6. Other tasks as required.
Person specification
Required knowledge, skills and experience
1. Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in drama or narrative production (radio broadcast, journalism or documentary) as a sound engineer with experience working in local language production.
2. Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to work with detailed production plans and meet deadlines.
3. High quality production skills, including recording and post-production.
4. Strong attention to detail, able to record and implement changes accurately and manage version control across multiple languages of production simultaneously.
5. Good analytical skills and ability to present and report findings verbally and in writing.
6. Tertiary level education (collage diploma or degree), ideally in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
7. Fluent English (written and spoken), proficient in at least two other Ugandan languages.
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience
1. Experience editing audiovisual content.
2. Relevant professional qualification in a related field.
3. Previous experience working for NGOs.
4. Experience developing detailed production plans for complex projects
