JOB DETAILS:

The ULS is seeking for a qualified and experienced individual to fill the following position at the Head Office.

Job Title: Clerk to Council
Duty Station: Kampala
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary:
Clerk to Council is under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for handling the ULS Council Affairs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the activities of the ULS Council and its committees.
• Organize, coordinate and Manage ULS Council Meetings.
• Write and preserve minutes of ULS Council and committee meetings.
• File all documentation relating to Council and ensuring confidentiality of such matters.
• Schedule appointments for council Members and organize for their travels.
• To prepare in consultation with appropriate agendas for the meetings of the Council and Committees.
• Prepare and organize for the welfare of all Council members.
• To prepare speeches for the ULS Council.
• To ensure confidentiality of Council matters which are not in the public domain.
• Conduct research on cooperate governance issues and other related matters and advise the Council through preparation of Position paper and presentations for relevant Forums.
• Write proposals and Mobilize resources to support the Council activities.
• Any other lawful duties assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• LLB and a post graduate diploma in Legal Practice
• A minimum of at least Two years of professional work experience;

Key Competencies:
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
• Computer proficiency with good knowledge of computer applications.
• Industrious and self-driven
• Ready to work long hours
• Track record of high Integrity
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be result oriented
• Must have strong leadership skills
