JOB DETAILS:
OVERVIEW
The Country Director, Uganda provides leadership to the USCRI Field Office in Kampala, which offers services to child and youth refugees and asylum seekers in the country. Programs will include health and hygiene-related initiatives, case management, psychosocial assistance, food assistance and programs supporting education and school attendance. Core responsibilities for the Country Director include leadership of a mission-driven group of case management and operations staff, direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, strategic program and funding development, financial management, relationship building with government and civil society actors and potential donors, and dynamic community engagement. The Country Director reports to the Manager of International Programs at USCRI headquarters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the leadership, planning, and coordination of USCRI operations in Uganda;
• Provide direct oversight and support to program and operations staff and ensure the smooth functioning of the office;
• Conduct community outreach to identify clients and advertise services, represent USCRI headquarters in meetings with stakeholders;
• Ensure quality delivery of programs and services according to funder guidelines; maintain a safe and protected work environment;
• Identify and pursue new program and development opportunities through fundraising and grant writing;
• Build and maintain relations with the office landlord, the building maintenance personnel, and key stakeholders; provide support and solutions to technical and maintenance issues;
• Negotiate service contracts under the supervision of USCRI headquarters in the United States;
• Develop a local and regional donor base, building local staff/partner capacity and networks;
• Represent USCRI in the community and with funders, government, community-based partners, vendors, and individual community members;
• Coordinate activities of the field office staff and support them in administrative procedures as necessary; revise and approve office expenditures as necessary;
• Develop reports on program accomplishments for USCRI executive leadership using data software and basic statistics to show the progress and outcomes of the program, funding opportunities and successes of the program; and
• Collaborate with Human Resources for the onboarding and loss of staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree in business, social services administration, non-profit management, related field, or equivalent experience preferred;
• Minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience with supervisory and program management experience;
• Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian response, for refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and/or other vulnerable populations;
• Strong leadership experience and team-building skills, with the capacity to serve as lead for provision of trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and competent client care;
• Solid experience with budget management and oversight of financial processes;
• Experience with strategic planning for program growth and fundraising;
• Experience with monitoring & evaluation activities to ensure program quality and compliance with donor requirements;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to government funders, donors, clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience, multicultural staff, community partners, and volunteers;
• Exceptional time management, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
• Strong decision-making skills and capacity to delegate decision-making to team members;
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, financial systems, and database programs; and
• Commitment to USCRI’s values including demonstration of respect for others and appreciation of a multicultural workplace;
• Must pass a criminal background check and other screening requirements;
• Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace;
• Spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of other languages is considered an advantage.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
• Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
• Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
