JOB DETAILS:
ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) is a civil society coalition comprising grassroots women’s rights organizations from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Somaliland, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Uganda. Established in 1995, SIHA aims to strengthen the capacity of women’s rights organizations in the Horn of Africa, contributing to the empowerment of women and advocating for effective change.

JUSTIFICATION AND OBJECTIVES
Following a Grant that was given to the Naguru Women Market Vendors (WMV) to support them with a startup to operate a shoemaking and craft training center, the training center was opened, and the trainees have since started developing crafts such as shoes, purses, belts, door mats, wall hangings, bracelets.
The purpose of this training is as a response to some of the needs that were raised by the trainees during the monitoring visits. The trainees indicated that the sales of their products were low, and they attributed this to the fact that they did not have visibility and marketing skills for their products and requested to be supported in boosting their visibility and marketing skills to boost their sales.
The training will entail hiring a consultant with hands-on skills on the use of online marketing platforms (such as TikTok and WhatsApp), and who apart from English is able to communicate in either Luganda or Luo or both.

The objectives of the training are:
1. To equip participants with online marketing, etiquette, language, presentation and management and maintenance skills of online accounts.
2. To support the participants with the installation and use of online marketing platforms such as TikTok and WhatsApp.

METHODOLOGY
The training will be practical in nature, involving hands-on skills on the set-up and management of the online marketing platforms. Other methods will include demonstrations, open discussions, and Qand A, that would enhance trainee experience during the sessions.

TASKS
• Participate in the inception meeting and develop a training plan.
• Develop training materials for the 2-day training.
• Deliver a 2-day training on online marketing.
• Prepare a training report highlighting key issues and recommendations.

DELIVERABLES
• Training material on online marketing and a training report.
• Online marketing accounts set up and running (TikTok and WhatsApp).

DURATION OF WORK
This assignment will run for a maximum of 3 months as follows:
• Develop a training plan and evaluation tools: Wednesday 13th November 2024.
• Actual training: Monday and Tuesday of 18th and 19th November 2024, respectively.
• 1st Follow-up meeting with the trainees’ use of the Online Marketing platforms: Wednesday 11th December,2024
• 2nd Follow-up meeting with the trainees’ use of the Online Marketing platforms: Friday 24th January 2025
• Submission of final report: Friday 31st January 2025

Key Competencies and Skills for the ideal candidate
• Proven experience and proficiency in managing online marketing platforms for local or small businesses.
• Excellent skills in report writing
• Relevant certificates, Diplomas, Degrees in Online Marketing is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of local market trends and consumer behavior to create effective, culturally relevant marketing content.
