Job Summary
The Grants and Business Development Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting PEAS Uganda’s funding and reporting efforts. This role involves managing grants, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, developing high-quality reports, and contributing to business development efforts. The coordinator will work closely with internal teams and external donors to enhance resource mobilization, secure new funding opportunities, and align grant activities with the organization’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Reporting (90%)
• Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality narrative and financial reports in a timely manner.
• Develop reporting templates and assign tasks to relevant team members, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and expectations.
• Coordinate and prepare updates for donor meetings and provide clear communication roadmaps to ensure reporting responsibilities are understood by all stakeholders.
• Champion strong report-writing skills within the organization.
Grant Management
• Ensure activity owners are aware of their responsibilities, deliverables, and deadlines through monthly steering committee meetings.
• Monitor compliance with donor contract rules and regulations, ensuring all staff understand their responsibilities.
• Collaborate with the finance team to review, track, and analyze project expenditures, providing timely responses to donor requests.
• Lead coordination for donor visits, ensuring schools and staff are well-prepared.
• Mentor country staff to build capacity in grant reporting, budget management, and compliance.
Grant Business Development Support (10%)
• Work with internal teams (Operations, M&E, and Programmes) to package and present impact data effectively for funders.
• Assist in the preparation of concept papers and funding proposals.
• Support the Country Director in progressing institutional and corporate funding opportunities.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Finance, Business Development, or Social Sciences).
• At least 5 years of experience in successfully raising and managing grants in an NGO setting.
• Proven expertise in working with institutional donors (e.g., EU, DFID/FCDO, USAID).
• High level of numeracy and understanding of financial controls and procedures.
• Strong project management skills and excellent report writing skills in English.
• Confidence in building relationships with senior colleagues, donors, and external agencies.
Desired:
• Knowledge of corporate funding agencies and regional funding trends.
• Experience with bi-lateral and multi-lateral funding grants.
• Familiarity with international development issues and donor trends.
