The National Forest Authority (NFA) is a semi-autonomous body established under the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act, 2003 to manage Central Forest Reserves on a sustainable basis and to supply high-quality forestry-related products and services to the Government, Local Communities, and the Private Sector. The NFA is looking to recruit a dynamic and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Research & Data Manager.
POSITION: Research & Data Manager
REPORTS TO: Head of Marketing and Communications
DUTY STATION: Kampala
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Design research projects with clear objectives using appropriate methodologies to ensure the NFA’s compliance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act.
- Develop and implement research projects to inform policy, strategy, and operational decisions in line with NFA’s mandate.
- Monitor and evaluate current research procedures in line with the company standards to assess performance and ensure compliance with the set standards.
- Develop and maintain the relational database and ensure the integrity of the data collected.
- Strengthen the capacity of NFA staff in data management and analysis.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Professional certification in Data Analysis, Monitoring, and Evaluation is an added advantage.
WORKING EXPERIENCE:
- At least 5 years of working experience in research, data management, or a related field, with at least 3 years at a supervisory level.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced knowledge in the use of statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, R, or Python.
- Good working knowledge of the GPS/GIS systems and applications.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical modeling and analysis.
- Ability to interpret and relate data to information collected.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
