Title: Land Management Officer
Reports to: Pathway II Coordinator/Country Manager
Resiliencia Uganda is seeking a dynamic Land Management Officer to join their dedicated project team in Eastern Uganda for the INSPIRE program (2025 – 2029). The ideal candidate will assist smallholder farmers in implementing sustainable land management techniques, enhancing productivity, and building resilience against challenges.

INSPIRE Program (2024-2029)
Led by GOAL and Wageningen Environmental Research, INSPIRE aims to foster resilient economic and agricultural development in rural communities in Lango and Busoga regions. Resiliencia Uganda will be responsible for implementing Pathway II, focusing on the Sustainable Farming Systems component under the INSPIRE program.
The Position
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our dedicated project in Uganda. The primary responsibility will involve assisting smallholder farmers in implementing sustainable land management techniques, boosting productivity, and fortifying resilience against unforeseen challenges. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Market Development Officers, Community Engagement Officers and Cooperative advisors to deliver the INSPIRE program. You will undertake the following duties:
Responsibilities
- Overall project support
- Work in an integrated manner with the other officers and technicians of the INSPIRE program
- Support activities planned within the INSPIRE program (potential wider activities then purely the Land management activities)
- Support the development of the Integrated Community Plans – specifically provide input on Land and Water management aspects
2. Promotion of Sustainable Farming Systems
- Support farmers in determining their land management needs
- Develop integrated plans for smallholder farm plots, including sustainable farming
- Provide on-demand training on climate-smart agriculture and soil & land
- Organize annual farmer exchange visits and roadshows to showcase innovative
- Establish demonstration plots for sustainable land use practices
- Coordinate annual competitions to showcase successes and stimulate
3. Training and Capacity building
- Provide ToT (trainer of trainers) training for project members and partners organization on sustainable land management
- Provide technical training on sustainable land management practices to SHF and
- Establish Demonstration Fields for sustainable Land Management practices
- Contribute to the develop of video content showcasing best practices for dissemination
4. Collaboration
- Work with a team of other INSPIRE staff in different pathways to deliver the program
- Work with different technical government staff and other stakeholders for effective and sustainable project implementation
5. Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Soil Science, Environmental Management, or related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Work Experience: 5-10 years in promoting sustainable land management
- Skills: Strong understanding of smallholder farmer practices, Soil & water management, Soil erosion management, and community engagement.
- Language: Fluency in English and local languages of Lango Sub-
- Location: Lango Sub-Region
Other Skills: Strong reporting capabilities, proficiency in Word and Excel applications as well as motorcycle riding skills.
- Work in an integrated manner with the other officers and technicians of the INSPIRE program
- Support activities planned within the INSPIRE program (potential wider activities then purely the Land management activities)
- Support the development of the Integrated Community Plans– specifically provide input on Land and Water management aspects
