ROLE PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer is responsible for supporting

the daily financial operations and fulfilling periodic financial requirements at the head office."

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support monthly Bank Reconciliations of all accounts
  • Ensure all finance documents are regularly updated and accessible by staff.
  • Preparation of assigned donor reports
  • Monthly BVAs for donor projects
  • Review requisitions submitted to finance for correct coding and appropriate budgets
  • Follow up all cash in transit and transfers.
  • Make all mobile money payments to all relevant beneficiaries after approval of request.
  • First level approval of requests for payment at the head office.
  • Centre data import and review
  • Capture all accountabilities received from staff
  • Reconcile all accounts receivables
  • Reconcile all accounts payables
  • Filing monthly taxes all statutory returns WHT, PAYE, VAT, IT, NSSF etc
  • Update new budgets, activity codes in system after approval
  • Replenish the pretty cash account when it reaches the minimum limit.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Comply with Straight Talk Foundation policies and procedures

Academic background, experience and person specifications:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business or any other related qualification from a recognized university.
  • Must possess at least a credit in Mathematics and English at UCE level.
  • 1-year experience working in a similar position, preferably in a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
  • Experience in use of an accounting package preferably Microsoft Navision.
  • Good level of competence in MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • High levels of integrity and commitment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • A strong team player
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets
