JOB DETAILS:
The Africa E-mobility Alliance (AfEMA) is seeking a proficient Mid-Level Economist based in Kampala, Uganda. AfEMA, an industry think tank in Africa, pioneers the development of progressive policy environments and investments in electric mobility, accelerating the adoption of zero-emission vehicles in Africa. We are committed to enhancing energy resilience, fostering innovation, and contributing to a carbon-free future.

Responsibilities:
1. Policy Analysis: Conduct in-depth economic analysis and policy assessments related to e-mobility trends, assessing their economic impact and implications for sustainable development in Uganda and across Africa.
1. Gender and Social Inclusion: Apply expertise in gender and social inclusion elements to assess the equitable distribution of the benefits of e-mobility initiatives, ensuring a balanced and inclusive approach.
1. Proposal Writing and Project Development: Develop comprehensive proposals and contribute to project development initiatives, showcasing the economic viability and social impact of proposed projects related to electric mobility.
1. Data Analysis: Utilise advanced quantitative methods and economic modelling to analyse market data, energy consumption patterns, and economic indicators, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
1. Collaborative Research: Collaborate with existing technical and data teams, providing economic perspectives that complement the organisation's strong technical expertise in energy and transport sectors.
1. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with partners, policymakers, and industry experts, representing AfEMA in discussions concerning economic policies, funding opportunities, and sustainable development initiatives.

Requirements:
• Educational Background: Master’s degree in Economics or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in economic analysis, with a focus on sustainable development projects and policies.
• Specialisations: Demonstrated expertise in gender and social inclusion analysis. Proven experience in successful proposal writing and project development is essential.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, including quantitative analysis and economic modelling, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Collaborative Spirit: Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with an ability to work effectively within diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex economic concepts to various stakeholders.
• Passion: Commitment to sustainable development and contributing to a carbon-free future in Africa.
