ABC Project Description
The African Biodigester Component (ABC) aims to support the growth and sustainability of the commercial biodigester sector in sub-Saharan Africa. The ABC intervention in Uganda (2022 to 2025) aims to facilitate a shift of the biodigester market from its pioneering to the expansion phase with a focus on the installation of at least 8.000 small-scale biodigesters (household level) in Uganda, providing access to energy to at least 44,000 people within the framework of the Dutch objectives
linked to SDG7.
ABC is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through EnDew! RVO. Activities in Uganda are coordinated by SNV and implemented in collaboration with GIZ- Endev, a consortium partner supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and Biogas Solutions Uganda Limited as the national Implementer. ABC applies a market based approach, developing and strengthening demand, supply and the enabling environment. This will be achieved by means of a well-balanced mix of interventions and, financing aimed at boosting demand and supporting small-scale and medium scale biodigester companies in acquiring more clients.
Project objective: To develop the biodigester market and enable its operation and scaling beyond the project intervention to autonomously increase access to biodigester technology

Prefabricated biodigester market development assessment in Uganda Purpose of the assignment
To undertake a sector-deep dive into the country's landscape of Biodigester technology, Assessing the market suitability of stimulating the adoption of biodigesters to support biodigesters supply and demand. Specifically, the assignment will involve a scan (examination) of potential opportunities through mapping existing market opportunities, the number of Biodigester companies operating in Uganda, market challenges and past and present operations of the Biodigester sector.
Feasibility Study of Biodigester Market Development in South Sudan Purpose of the assignment
To conduct a quick scan across the border in South Sudan for assessment of the feasibility of potential biodigester market development in the country.
